Background
This Report provides a summary and the status for all significant rulemakings that the Department of Transportation (DOT) currently plans to develop or has issued recently. DOT intends to update the Report once a month.  This information is not intended to commit DOT to specific conclusions or actions. For example, after further analysis, DOT may decide the effects of the rule would be different or it may decide to terminate the rulemaking.

Related Websites
DOT is providing this report to inform the public regarding its regulatory activities. This information can be used in conjunction with a number of other tools available to the public. For instance, by using the Docket Number where it is provided in the Report, you can locate the public docket for a particular rulemaking.  DOT's dockets can be found in the Federal Docket Management System (FDMS).  Those dockets electronically store all DOT-issued documents, supporting documents, and public comments regarding a particular rulemaking. In addition, once in the docket, you can sign up for email notification when particular documents are placed in that docket.

Nonsignificant Rulemakings
For information about nonsignificant rulemakings, you can review brief summaries in the DOT semi-annual Regulatory Agenda, which can be accessed at http://www.reginfo.gov.  That website has the entire Unified Agenda for the Federal Government.

Email Notification of the Report
You may obtain email notification each month when we update our Report on DOT Significant Rulemakings by going to FDMS and entering docket number
DOT-OST-2007-0114 in the search box; once in that docket, you may sign up for a notification that will be emailed when we put the report in that docket. (Note: under step 2, select "other.")
